Women arrested from Birgunj on charges of human trafficking

Police have arrested two persons from Birgunj on the charge of being involved in human trafficking. 

Laxmi Das, 20, of Birtamod Municipality-9 of Jhapa and Khushbu Bishwakarma, 19, of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-12 of Sunsari has been arrested by the police.

According to the District Police Office, Parsa, they have brought a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old girl from Jhapa to India for sale. 

Police on Tuesday coordinated with Indian counterparts to rescue the teenager after receiving information that she was being trafficked to a place called Chhaundadano in Bihar, India. 

After reaching Chhondadano, they were rescued while their mobile phones were being snatched and kept in a room and sent to other places in India.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, Laxmi and Khushbu have been arrested from Birgunj-16 ENERWA Nepal-India border.

According to the police, further investigation has been started against the two on the charge of human trafficking with the permission of Parsa District Court on Wednesday. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Khanal said that a search was on for the other three persons involved in human trafficking.
