5 policemen and locals injured in a clash in Chitwan

A man was killed in Rapti of East Chitwan on Friday night. Kancha Lama, 59, of Sheetalpani in Rapti Municipality-9 has been killed.

A clash broke out between police and locals while they were taking under control Dasharath Malla, 50, a neighbor accused of killing Lama. Chief of the District Police Office, Chitwan, SP Om Adhikari said that five policemen including Inspector Roshan Khadka and two locals were injured in the clash.

According to police, Lama was killed by Malla while he was walking on the road at 9.45 pm on Friday. According to District Police Chief SP Adhikari, Malla killed Lama after consuming alcohol due to old recidivism. He said that the police had to fire aerial fire and tear gas to control the situation after the locals pelted stones at the accused.

The injured Inspector Khadka has sustained eye injuries while the condition of others is normal, said the Superintendent of Police. The accused Malla and the body of Lama were brought to Bharatpur on Friday night.
