Surkhet: 7000 liters of illegal domestic liquor destroyed

The District Police Office, Surkhet has destroyed 7,000 liters of illegal domestic liquor in three days span.

According to Ram Prasad Gharti, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Surkhet, 7,157 liters of liquor including raw homemade liquor and raw materials used to produce liquor were destroyed from different places in four villages and five municipalities of Surkhet district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gharti said that 2,257 liters of ready-made liquor and 4,900 liters of raw material used for production were destroyed.

He said that the campaign has been started from the beginning of the current fiscal year with the aim of controlling and eliminating most of the incidents of social crime due to alcohol.

Similarly, Surkhet Police on Monday arrested Madan Bika, 37, of Birendranagar Municipality-1, Surkhet, who has been absconding for four years.

According to the police, Bika was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Surkhet District Court on November 14, 2017, in a rape case.

According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, the fugitive accused Bika has been handed over to the court.
