National Yoga Day: Under the slogan ‘Yoga for overall development,’ the seventh Yoga Day is being observed through a virtual medium in 2022.
Following an increase in cases of coronavirus infection with a new variant, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology directed that the Day be celebrated virtually.
On August 13, 2015, the Council of Ministers formally decided to observe Magh 1 as National Yoga Day and delegated responsibility for coordination to the Education Ministry.
On the proposal of the then-Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Narahari Acharya, the cabinet meeting declared Magh 1 as National Yoga Day.
It is thought to help people protect themselves from coronavirus because regular yoga practice boosts immunity.
