A Division League fourth round

A Division League: The games of the fourth phase of Shaheed Smarak A Division League are starting from today.

The A Division League match between Manang Marsyangdi Club and Friends Club will be played at 1 pm while the match between Castle Youth Club and Tribhuvan Army Football Club will start at 4:45 pm. Both the games will be played at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

Manang, the eight-time league winner, has added seven points while remaining unbeaten in three games. This will be Manang’s first match after the arrival of Nigerian coach Fuja Tope. Earlier, Rajendra Tamang had worked as the coach of Manang. Now both will be in the training team. Fuja was also present at Thursday’s prematch conference. He clearly stated Manang’s strategy, not to lose any points. Manang defeated Jawalakhel and Himalayan Sherpa Club in the first two games but managed to grab points even though they came close to defeat with Sankata.

Fuja said that Manang’s goal is not to lose points while playing with friends. “We don’t want to lose any points,” he said.

Friends, who aim to avoid relegation this season, have only added two points from three games so far. Three players, including captain Prakash Budhathoki, were injured. “Manang is a strong team but we play to add points, to win, or to draw,” said coach Mishra.

Strikers Jaman Anthony and Prijen Tamang, along with captain Prakash, were also injured, he said, adding that there could be some problems. Prakash is said to be out of the field for four weeks. Despite that, Friends has a goal to beat Manang. Coach Mishra said that this game will largely decide what the upcoming trip of Friends will be like.

In the second match of the same day, another title contender Army and Castle will compete. Army assistant coach Raju Tamang said that they will play for 3 points against Castle in the prematch conference. “We are playing for 3 points as we are title contenders.” After defeating the brigade in the third round and winning the first match of the season, head coach Navin Neupane said that he was back in the title race. Army has 5 points from 3 games.

Castle, on the other hand, has added four points after one win, one draw, and one loss. Chassell’s coach Bal Gopal Sahukhala said that since it was a 50-50 match, it would depend on who played better.

The game from the fourth round to the seventh round is still important for Manang and Army. According to ANFA, the club that adds the most points among the AFC club licensed clubs till the seventh round will be able to play in the AFC Cup selection.

Former winners Machhindra Football Club and APF Football Club along with Manang and Army have got club licenses for this season.
