National football team head coach Abdullah Almutairi has apologized.

He has publicly apologized for the controversy over his remarks.

There was a controversy after he said that the mentality of sports officials should be changed along with the players in Nepal.

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) senior vice-president Pankaj Bikram Nemwang and others had demanded action against the head coach for speaking in such a manner.

Coach Almutairi said that he was only trying to explain how football has developed in Nepal and other Asian countries in the last three decades.

He wrote on the social network Facebook, ‘I have felt that my statement was misinterpreted while discussing with my well-wishers and football-loving family. I apologize for that. ‘

He has previously said, “I apologize to the Nepali people, especially the former players and coaches or those who misunderstood my thinking.”

“I have no bad intentions towards anyone and I am happy to be associated with the Nepali football team,” said head coach Almutairi.
