Afghanistan earthquake: A powerful earthquake struck western Afghanistan, killing over 20 people and destroying hundreds of homes.

According to photos shared by local authorities, the magnitude-5.6 tremor shook the western province of Badghis, bordering Turkmenistan, reducing brick homes to rubble.

“Initial reports indicate that 22 people, including women and children, have been killed and four others have been injured,” said Baz Mohammad Sarwari, the Badghis provincial administration’s Director of Information and Culture.

According to reports, over 700 houses were damaged.
