Baitadi jeep accident: The death toll in a jeep accident in Baitadi has reached five.
The death toll of the Baitadi jeep accident has risen to five after 40-year-old Janaki Bhattarai of Patan Municipality-1 died while undergoing treatment at Patan Health Center, said Rajesh Shahi, Chief Inspector of Police, Area Police Office, Patan.
The jeep (Se 1 Ja 888) heading to Sakar from Patan of Baitadi had met with an accident at Sakar Khola of Patan Municipality-1 on Monday evening. Four people, including a newlywed couple, died on the spot on the same day.
The deceased have been identified as Prem Chunara, 24, of Surnaya rural municipality-1, his wife Manisha Vik, 20, Binod Bhattarai, 13, of Patan Municipality-1, and Rama Bhattarai, 72. Prem and Manisha have married 10 days ago. According to police, the two had met with an accident while returning to their family home.
Five persons have been injured in the accident. Among the injured, Mandhwaj Bhattarai and Omprakash Bhattarai of Patan Municipality-1 have been sent to Dadeldhura for further treatment. Bishnu Bhattarai, Deepak Bhattarai, and Govindi BK are undergoing treatment at Patan Primary Health Center.
