On Thursday, Mayor Renu Dahal and Chairman of Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh Chitwan Krishna Raj Dharel signed an agreement to transfer the association’s land adjacent to the Municipal Corporation to the metropolis.
It is mentioned in the agreement that out of one bigha 7 kattha 15 dhur being used by Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh, Chitwan in Bharatpur Heights located at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10, one bigha 15 dhur land will be given to Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
The building of the External Services Department of Bharatpur Eye Hospital operated at the same place will remain the same. For that, the association has kept 7 blocks of land.
The agreement stipulates that the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation will manage the necessary resources for the construction of the hospital building required to operate the services of Bharatpur Eye Hospital. It has also agreed to waive the fee for passing the map of the building.
Ram Bandhu Subedi, Chief Administrative Officer of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation informed that the process of making the land redistributed in the name of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation will move forward after the agreement.
Iceland Jungle Resort was operating on the land acquired by the metropolis. The resort is now vacant after the agreement was signed.
The land with physical infrastructure was handed over by USAID to Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh on December 10, 2008.
Mayor of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation Renu Dahal said that the corporation has got 1 bigha 15 dhur land in the heart of the market. “It is a great achievement to get more than one bigha of land on the main highway, which will make the administrative area of the metropolis wider and more attractive,” said Mayor Dahal.

A new administrative building will be constructed on the east side of the existing building of the corporation. The corporation had been insisting on taking the land being used by the Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh as only the land currently under the corporation is narrow for the administrative building.
The total cost of the new six-storey administrative building to be constructed in seven blocks is Rs. 943.23 million. The construction of the building is targeted to be completed in the next two and a half years.
A source of Rs. 350 million has been secured from the Ministry of Finance for the building. Insufficient amount will be borne by the metropolis.
The metropolis has already invited bids for the construction of the administrative building. The building will be constructed on the 6th floor within 30 months from the date of agreement with the contractor. The total area of the building will be 14 thousand 152 square meters and there will be underground parking for 50 vehicles and 250 motorcycles.
The building will have two elevators, cultural hall and library. Similarly, there will be a senior citizen rest room on each floor.
The building will have 158 small and large work rooms and 221 rooms. The foundation stone of the building was laid by CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on March 25.
