The BhimDatta Highway has been blocked due to a landslide in Bhasu Bhir of Kailali district.

Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Bamdev Gautam of the Far-Western Provincial Traffic Office informed that the highway was blocked due to the landslide since Sunday evening.

He said that the landslide at around 2 pm on Monday blocked the highway and disrupted transport services in seven hilly districts of the far west. Vehicles left for various districts including Kailali and Kanchanpur from hilly districts have been stopped on the way while vehicles going to hills from Terai have also been stranded.

According to Superintendent of Police Gautam, it will take at least an hour and a half to open the BhimDatta highway as the landslide is being removed with the help of a dozer of Godavari Municipality.

The main highway has also been blocked in Chaurpati village of Achham due to landslides. The landslide in Duni of Chaurpati village municipality after incessant rains has blocked the highway and affected the transport service. Police said that work is underway to clear the road using a dozer.
