After 27 years of marriage, actor Blair Underwood and his wife, Desiree DaCosta, have announced their separation.
The couple praised their three children, ages 24, 22, and 19, in a joint statement posted to Instagram, calling their marriage “a beautiful journey.”
“We have come to the conclusion to end our 27-year marriage after a tremendous amount of thought, prayer, and work on ourselves individually and collectively,” the statement said.
“Our proudest achievements are our three incredible children,” it continued. God has entrusted us with three souls. The blessings of parenting continue to amaze and humble us. We have always prioritized their needs and will continue to do so. As we embark on this new chapter of our lives separately, we will continue to be the best of friends and co-parents, with the utmost respect for one another.”
Underwood, 56, rose to prominence on the NBC drama “L.A. Law” in the late 1980s. He’s been nominated for two Golden Globes, for “L.A. Law” and “In Treatment,” and he shared a Grammy for “An Inconvenient Truth” for best spoken word album.
