Boyfriend arrested for trying to take dance girl to India

July 9, Biratnagar. A 13-year-old girl from Birtamod, Jhapa was walking to school on Saturday saying that she would go to dance class six. When he did not return home until late Saturday, his relatives searched for him but did not find him. When he did not come the next day, he lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Birtamod.

Police found the girl on Sunday but in Biratnagar. The girl was rescued by the police with the help of an organization called ‘Sana Haat Nepal’ while a young man and a young woman were taking her to India.

Police have arrested Hira Kumar, 23, and Sirisa Singh Mahtha, 19, of Kolvi Municipality-4, Bara, from Birtamod Municipality-5, Jhapa. Police claim that the arrested persons are lovers.

It is suspected that the girl was taken away for sale. According to Deepak Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Morang, the investigation has been started by extending the term of the two arrested persons in human trafficking and smuggling cases. DSP Shrestha said that further investigation is being carried out on those arrested.
