Cabinet approves the budget awaiting to be approved by President and release at 4 pm

President Bidya Bhandari has been advised by his cabinet to issue a budget ordinance to bring the new budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 into effect.

According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung, the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar approved the budget submitted by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel before sending three ordinances to Shital Niwas for cirtification.

Once President Bhandari signs the budget ordinance, the new budget will be presented. Despite opposition parties’ objections, the government will present a new budget by ordinance at 4 p.m. today.

From the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel will present the new budget.

Many people are watching the budget closely to see if it will prioritize the health sector, given that it is being presented in the midst of the COVID-9.

Nine former vice-chairmen of the National Planning Commission (NPC) had previously suggested that the ordinance not include a budget.
