A Nepali film ‘Talo’ based on Chhaupadi tradition followed in the hilly regions of central and far western Nepal is made public.
The film, scripted, directed and edited by Deepak Shrestha, has been made public by OSR Digital.
The film, produced under the banner of Niharika Films, stars Rim Bishwakarma, Anjali Khadka, Prem Dev Giri, Sushila Sinjapati, Sushila Singh, Uday BK, Gagan BK, Elisha Badi, Samjhana Badi, Khagendra KP, Bhupesh Soni, Sher Bahadur, Khagendra Jaisi and Jamuna Vikal.
The film has a story by Rim Vishwakarma, Melina Rai, Shantishri Pariyar, Rishi Khadka’s voice, Ramesh BG and Rishi Khadka’s words, Uttam Rimal’s duel.
Storyteller and producer Rim said the film was made to help eradicate the inhumane practice of forcing a woman to stay in a barn or a small barn in the forest for six days during Chui (menstruation).
Director Deepak revealed that the local actors were hired to bring the story to life.
