Chilean coastline hit by 5.9-magnitude earthquake

The US Geological Survey reported a significant 5.9-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile on Saturday morning.

At 03:24 a.m. GMT, a shallow quake struck 112 kilometers (70 miles) northwest of the mining city of Copiapo.

There were no reports of injuries or property damage at the time.
