The CPN-UML has written to 12 party lawmakers in the now-disbanded House of Representatives, requesting clarity within 24 hours.
The party’s Standing Committee meeting on May 24 resolved to oust 11 of its lawmakers and sought clarification from the remaining 12.
The 23 members had backed the opposition parties in their bid to establish a new government.
Sher Bahadur Tamang, Secretary of the CPN-UML Central Office, stated that 12 legislators had been asked for clarification. He further stated that after verbal attempts to convey the party’s position to them had failed, the party had opted to seek written clarifications.

Meanwhile, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Kalyani Khadka, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karna, Laxmi Chaudhary, Mukunda Neupane, Ram Kumari Jhakri, Kalila Khatun, and Nira Devi Jairu are among the 11 MPs who have been expelled from the party’s general membership.
