Locals have protested against the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) after a person was electrocuted while constructing a dam at a place cut by the river in Melamchi.
Dharmaraj Dulal of Melamchi Municipality-11 died on Monday morning after being struck by an electric wire while going to fetch an excavator to build a dam on the banks of the Melamchi River. Locals have protested that the death was due to negligence of NEA.
According to Sindhupalchowk Police Chief SP Rajan Adhikari, a discussion has started between the locals and representatives of the Electricity Authority on Monday afternoon. But locals have continued to protest. Roads in Melamchi area have been closed due to the protest.
