NASA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and ESA (European Space Agency) collaborated to create the COVID-19 Earth Observing Dashboard in June 2020. (

This collaborative effort uses the combined scientific power of all three agencies’ EO satellites to document how the pandemic’s changes in human activity are affecting the environment and the economy.

Food production, air pollution, ship traffic, water quality, and other variables have all been tracked using the interactive dashboard.

The Earth Observation Dashboard Hackathon (or the “EO Dashboard Hackathon” for short) is being held by the space agencies from June 23 to 29, 2021, to commemorate the Dashboard’s one-year anniversary.

Participants are being invited from all over the world by the space agencies.

From June 23 to 29, 2021, the Earth Observation Dashboard Hackathon will take place.

Participants will form teams and use data from the dashboard to solve one of several challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic during this week-long virtual event.
