Rain causes Floods in Mahakali river, inundates 200 homes

The Mahakali River has been inundated due to the nonstop rains that have been falling since Sunday.

Locals’ homes in Bhimdatta municipality-9, 12, and 13 have been flooded. To rescue locals, a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been deployed. As of 5 a.m. today, the water volume in the Mahakali river was 391,364 cusecs. This is the most water ever collected since 2070 BS.

Similarly, water has entered the Armed Police Force‘s temporary camp at Kutiyakabar in Jogbudha, Dodhara Chandani municipality.

Over 200 houses in Bhimdatta municipality-12 (Airighat, Odali, ward 13 (Badhaipur and Piparaiya) have been inundated, according to DSP Jivan Gurung of Area Police Office Gaddachauki.

The rescued have been housed at Janata Primary School in Airighat, he said.
