To obtain the vaccines, the government has sent letters to COVID-19 vaccine producers in various countries

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the government has sent letters to the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, and India.

Minister Hridesh Tripathi stated today at a virtual press conference organized by the Ministry that the government intends to purchase five million doses of vaccines.

He went on to say that some countries had responded to the letters, while others were expected to do so soon.

The Minister also stated that steps have been taken to purchase the vaccines through various channels.

He also stated that the purchasing bid was postponed due to a vaccine stock shortage in the international market.

According to the Ministry, over 2.6 million people in the country have received COVID vaccines so far.

Minister Tripathi also predicted that the virus infection rate would fall in the coming weeks, as the infection rate is gradually declining.

He also mentioned that the government was giving grants to various hospitals to help them set up oxygen plants, add ventilators, and ICU wards.

He went on to say that 157 hospitals across the country have been designated as COVID-19 dedicated hospitals.

Minister Tripathi also stated that the government is now effectively managing the oxygen shortage.
