At least 304 people have been killed and 1,800 injured in a powerful Haiti Earthquake
The prime minister has declared a month-long state of emergency, saying the quake had caused extensive damage. The quake destroyed people’s homes, churches, hotels, and other structures.
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake shook Haiti on Saturday morning. Its epicenter was 12 kilometers from St. Louis Dusud, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake affected the capital, Port-au-Prince, about 125 kilometers away, and neighboring countries.
Haiti is reeling from another devastating earthquake in 2010, the BBC reports.
US President Joe Biden has called on USAID to provide immediate relief to earthquake-affected Haiti.
