At least 304 people have been killed and 1,800 injured in a powerful Haiti Earthquake

The prime minister has declared a month-long state of emergency, saying the quake had caused extensive damage. The quake destroyed people’s homes, churches, hotels, and other structures.

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake shook Haiti on Saturday morning. Its epicenter was 12 kilometers from St. Louis Dusud, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake affected the capital, Port-au-Prince, about 125 kilometers away, and neighboring countries.

US President Joe Biden has called on USAID to provide immediate relief to earthquake-affected Haiti.
