He raped her by calling her to get married and also looted one lakh cash

July 7, Kathmandu. Sunita (name change), 24, of Lalitpur had been talking to Jay of Kavre Banepa on social network Emo for two years.

Sunita was impressed. Within two weeks, Jay proposed to her. Sunita didn’t seem to mind either.

Jay had even said that he would marry her soon. He was talking to Sunita that he would run away saying that he would not be with her family. Sunita also believed everything Jaya said and left the house on 29th June asking to run away.

According to DSP Anil Ghimire of Kalimati Police Circle, Sunita was then taken by Jay to a guest house in Bhotebahal, Kathmandu. The real face of the boy was found out only after the victim reached the hotel. “He mixed it with beverages and gave her laxatives,” DSP Ghimire told Online Khabar.

According to police, when she was told to run away and get married, she left the house with some money and gold. But after taking his mobile phone, he had no basis to know Jay. She could not help but think of the calamity that had befallen her. For two days she waited for him to return. She then lodged a complaint at the Police Circle, Kalimati on 31 May.

According to SP Dinesh Raj Mainali of the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, when the victim lodged the complaint, the police did not find any indication of the perpetrator. “Even while staying at the hotel, the victim’s identity card and mobile number have been used for data entry,” said Mainali.

However, while the police were conducting an investigation from the analysis of close circuit (CC) camera footage and other technical aspects, it was revealed that the real name of the perpetrator called ‘Jai’ was Vishwa Tamang. According to SP Mainali, he used to identify himself with three names namely ‘Jai’, ‘Bhote’ and ‘Ashish’.

According to Mainali, the District Court, Kathmandu has extended the time limit by seven days for investigation into the rape and theft related cases against Tamang.

The victim has undergone medical examination at Thapathali Maternity Home after receiving information about the incident.
