KP Oli, the chairman of the ruling CPN-UML, has scheduled a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee at 4 p.m. on Monday.

The meeting, which will take place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, is expected to take action against party MPs, including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, for “going against party directions.”

The party had previously sought clarification from 11 members who had signed a petition in support of naming Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister on Friday.

The UML is also likely to take action against those lawmakers who signed the writ petition against Prime Minister Oli’s decision to dismiss Parliament.

Earlier, on May 22, the party’s SC voted to demand an explanation from the lawmakers.
