The flow of Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk has increased.

Locals, who had suffered heavy losses in the Melamchi floods just a few days ago, are scared of the recurring floods.

According to the locals, the houses and structures along the river and the cultivable land have been eroded by the current rains.

According to the Flood Information Center of the Department of Water and Meteorology, moderate to heavy rainfall has been measured at Shermathang, Dhap and Chautara rain gauges in Sindhupalchowk since Wednesday evening. The department has urged to be vigilant in the coastal areas including Melamchi Bazaar as there is a possibility of more rain in the area.

Sindhupalchowk Police has urged the residents of the coastal area to remain vigilant saying that the settlement from Helambu to Melamchi is in danger.
