Navaratri 2021: Today, on the eighth day of Dashain, the Maha Ashtami festival is being celebrated grandly by worshiping Durga Bhawani. 

Today special worship of Mahakali, Mahalaxmi, and Mahasaraswati is performed.

Today, Durga Bhawani is worshiped by sacrificing animals at various Shakti Peethas of the state including Dashainghar and Kotal. Today, parts, weapons, and vehicles are specially cleaned and kept at the place where the goddess is established and worshiped with animal sacrifices. These instruments are worshiped as weapons of the goddess.

On the night of Maha Ashtami, Kalratri is worshiped at the Dashainghar of Hanuman Dhoka with the sacrifice of 54 goats and 54 bullocks on behalf of the state.

Today, Shakti Peeths in the valley worship Guhyeshwari, Maitidevi, Kalikasthan, Bhadrakali, Naxal Bhagwati, Shobha Bhagwati, Vijeshwari, Indrayani, Raktakali, Vajrayogini, Sankata, Bajrabarahi, Dakshinkali, Chamunda, Sundarijal, and other temples.

Similarly, Manakamana of Gorkha, Gahawamai of Parsa, Chhinnamasta of Saptari, Ugratara of Dadeldhura, Chandeshwari of Kavrepalanchok, Nala Bhagwati of Kavre and Palanchok Bhagwati, Palchok Bhagwati of Sindhupalchok, Bhagwati of Dolakha.

Those who do not offer animal sacrifices today, in the worship room, according to their own tradition, offer sacrifices such as cucumbers, silk gourd, Wax gourd, radish, coconut, etc.
