Nepal loses to India in SAFF Championship

Nepal has suffered its first defeat in the ongoing SAFF Championship 2021 in the Maldives. 

In their third match on Sunday, Nepal lost 0-1 to India.

Earlier, Nepal had won two games in a row. India had drawn two games in a row.

Captain Sunil Chhetri scored for India in the 82nd minute of the match at the National Stadium in Male. Sunil Chhetri and Manvir Singh also missed a good chance to score in the first half.

After the defeat of Nepal, the equation of reaching the final with the participation of five nations has become exciting. Now, on the day of the last matchday, the two teams that will reach the final will be decided.

Nepal and Maldives have the same 6 points. India is in third place with 5 points. Bangladesh is in fourth place with 4 points from 3 games. Sri Lanka, who have played all four games, are out by one point. Now, Nepal will play Bangladesh and India will play the Maldives on Wednesday.

Now Nepal will have to play at least a draw against Bangladesh to reach the final.
