The use of social media to commit immoral acts and character assassinations has been warned by the Nepal police.

On Monday, the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau issued a warning to those who create, publish, or broadcast substandard materials with the intent of abusing others through social media.

“We’re looking into complaints and applications of social media misuse. It is requested that you do not use social media to create, publish, or broadcast obscene or socially unacceptable content for the purpose of character assassination or harassment of others.”

If anyone is found engaging in such activities, the bureau has warned that legal action will be taken under the Electronic Transaction Act.
