On Monday, Nepal reported 9,198 new COVID cases, with 214 deaths

On Monday, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 9,198 new coronavirus cases. The COVID count has now reached 464,218. In addition, 49 people tested positive in the antigen test for SARS-CoV-2.

In the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry has recorded 214 deaths from COVID-19, based on data from the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) and the Nepali Army’s dead body management statistics. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 5,215 people across the country as of Monday. On May 11, the ministry reported 225 deaths, the highest daily total ever. In Nepal, there are currently 113,480 active cases.

In the meantime, 3,098 cases have been reported in the Kathmandu valley’s three districts in the last 24 hours. Kathmandu registered 2,346 cases, Lalitpur 454 cases and Bhaktapur registered 298 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

In the valley, COVID-19 claimed the lives of 79 people in 24 hours — 51 in Kathmandu, 14 in Lalitpur, and another 14 in Bhaktapur.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 5,767 COVID-19 patients have recovered. According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday, 345,523 people had recovered from the viral disease. The recovery rate is currently at 74.4 percent.
