Mike Bossy’s death from lung cancer has stirred debate about his smoking habits.
According to the Islanders, Mike Bossy, an NHL Hall of Famer and the franchise’s all-time leading goal scorer, died this morning at the age of 65. Bossy led the NHL in goals scored twice, in 1978-79 and 1980-81, with 69 and 68, respectively.
He scored at least 51 goals in each of his first nine seasons before a back ailment reduced him to 38 goals in his final season. His 85 goals in 129 postseason games were the most in NHL history at the time.
Everyone Thinks Mike Bossy Has A Smoking Habit – Death Cause
Michael Dean Bossy was a professional ice hockey player from Canada who played his entire NHL career with the New York Islanders, where he was a vital part of the team’s four-year Stanley Cup title run in the early 1980s.
He died on Friday, April 15th, 2022, after a long battle with lung cancer. According to sources, the footballer had a serious smoking problem that eventually led to cancer and death.
Netizens are interested to learn if he smoked and was a victim of chain smoking. His habit of blowing smokes remained a mystery due to the fact that his personal life was generally veiled.
The majority of senior and junior NHL players are hardcore smokers, according to Reddit. Smoking’s negative consequences were not as well understood in the 1970s as they are today, and famous people used it to relax. As a result, there’s a chance he had a smoking habit that had evolved throughout the course of his adult life.
Mike Bossy Lung Cancer And Health Update In 2022
Bossy took a leave of absence from his broadcasting duties at TVA, which is based in his home province of Quebec, in October 2021 to receive treatment for lung cancer.
In an open letter announcing his resignation, he wrote, “I can promise you that I plan to fight with all the drive and ardor that you have seen me display on the ice and in my game.” Bossy had been relaxing at home with his family while battling the illness, according to recent reports.
However, things did not go as planned, and he died of cancer at the age of 65 in his Montreal home.
Bossy’s NHL career was cut short due to a recurring ailment. At the start of the Islanders’ 1986 training camp, he was dealing with back problems. During the regular season, he missed 17 games and was injured in the first round of the playoffs when the Flyers defeated the Islanders.
Doctors eventually determined he had two damaged discs that surgery couldn’t fix. After missing the 1987-1988 season, he retired from hockey in October 1988.
