PM Oli does not maintain parliamentary confidence

A special parliamentary session legislative vote was convened on Monday in New Baneshwor to seek a vote of confidence by PM KP Oli.

The floor test on Monday was not passed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Of the 232 House of Representatives (HoR) members present in this Parliament today, there have been 93 votes in favor of the PM and 124 votes against the PM motion. There were no more than 15 abstainers.

After the vote count was finished, HoR President Agni Sapkota declared the final count.

With 271 members HoR, 4 on suspension, 63 seats were held by Nepali Parliament(NC), 49 were held by Maoist Centre, 34 (two suspended) by the Janata Samajbadi Party(JSP) and 121 by the PCN-UML. Similarly, each HoR member is Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM), the Nepal Workers’ Party (NWPP) and the Prajatantra Party (RPP), and there is one independent legislator. There are only a few HoR members.

 

Some 20 legislators of the UML faction in Madhav Kumar Nepal abstained today from the HoR sitting.
