Prime Minister KP Oli has returned home after meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.
PM Oli had arrived at the President’s Office just as opposition leaders arrived at Sheetal Niwas with 149 signatures asking the President to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister.
According to Article 76 (5) of the Constitution, Prime Minister Oli staked a claim to the position of Prime Minister by submitting the signatures of 153 lawmakers.
The Prime Minister, according to a source, sent a letter to the President on Thursday night.
The signatures of lawmakers from the Janata Samajbadi Party’s Mahantha-Rajendra faction were handed over to Prime Minister Oli last night, according to a lawmaker close to PM Oli.
