A landslide buried a house in Pokhara metropolis-6, Dihikopatan, on Monday morning, killing one person and injuring another.
Santosh Sunar, 26, a tenant, died when a landslide followed by relentless rain destroyed the single-story home of local Laxmi Khadka Chhetri, according to Sundar Tiwari, Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office of Kaski.
Severely injured Sunar was rescued and taken to the Paschimanchal Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
Sunita Sunar, 27, Santosh’s elder sister, who was also residing in the same house, was also injured in the incident.
Sunita was a permanent resident of Bhurjungkhola’s Machhapuchhre rural municipality-1.
According to police, she is now being treated at Gandaki Medical College.
Sunita’s 10-year-old daughter, on the other hand, was found unharmed in the incident, according to DSP Tiwari.
The injured were immediately rescued by a police team dispatched from the District Police Office and the Armed Police Force Kalika. Since last night, Pokhara has been inundated with rain.
