KP Sharma Oli, the Chair of the CPN-UML and Prime Minister of Nepal, met with Madhav Kumar Nepal and agreed to meet his main demand of resurrecting party structures and committees that existed before the merger of the UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre.

The PM agreed to reinstate party committees and institutions that existed before the UML’s merger with the CPN-MC, according to Gokarna Bista, a federal lawmaker who is close to Nepal and was present at the meetings.

He went on to say that Oli and Nepal would form a task team to figure out how to put the accord into action.

According to Nepal, Oli’s decision to induct 23 former Maoists, including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, into the CPN-UML central committee violated the party’s statute, and the PM should withdraw it.

Thapa, who is close to Oli, was part of the PM’s negotiation team.
