On Thursday, the provincial assembly of Gandaki Pradesh will meet.

Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung will face a vote of confidence today at 12 p.m. in the provincial assembly.

According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Chief Minister Gururng will ask for a vote of confidence at the start of the assembly meeting, after which top leaders of political parties will give their views on the confidence motion, and finally the vote will be divided.

The vote of confidence requires 31 votes from the 60 legislators in the Gandaki Provincial Assembly.

Other parties have decided not to vote for Chief Minister Gurung, and the ruling CPN-UML has only 27 lawmakers, so he is unlikely to win a vote of confidence.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has 15, the CPN (Maoist Center) has 12, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has two, and the Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM) has three lawmakers.

Krishna Thapa, a member of the RJM, has decided to cross the floor. If independent lawmaker Rajiv Gurung alias Manange extended his support to the opposition alliance, it would form the new government even if only one RJM lawmaker voted for Gurung.
