Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Purushottam Kandel has been given the responsibility of the Far-Western Province Police Chief.

Kandel, who has been transferred from the Human Resources Administration Department, Financial Administration and Management Directorate, Naxals, reached Dhangadhi on Thursday and assumed command.

Kandel said that he was committed to work in accordance with the Police Act by giving priority to peace and security, crime control, control of smuggling and border security in the state. 

“There is no such thing as separate and special work within the police organization,” Kandel said.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Nepal Police have strategic plans. We have to work in a way that everyone can comply.

The then Chief of the Far West, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Uttamraj Subedi was transferred to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari.

After Subedi’s transfer, the police headquarters replaced him with Kandel.
