Rain is expected to persist over the country through Saturday

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ National Disaster Chance Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has advised relevant bodies to evacuate settlements to safe regions, citing a significant risk of floods and landslides in the coming three days.

The NDRRMA has also called back the mountaineers, predicting heavy rains and landslides in all provinces save Sudurpaschim due to a vaporous wind blowing from the western Bay of Bengal and the ‘Yaas Cyclone.’

NDRRMA predicts heavy rain and windstorms in the Terai region of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati, and Lumbini Pradesh, as well as moderate snowfall and rain in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Pradesh 1.

The Authority, in a news release issued on Wednesday, requested all relevant entities to transfer settlements to safe regions, and asked local units to phone 1155 to report flood problems.

Meanwhile, torrential rains have been falling in the Kathmandu Valley since early this morning.
