Opposition lawmakers have begun collecting signatures in order to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the House of Representatives’ dissolution.

At the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party’s office in Singha Durbar, the process of collecting lawmakers’ signatures is underway.

The petition is signed by lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN-Madhav UML’s Kumar Nepal faction, and Rastriya Janamorcha.

On Saturday, a meeting of the five parties’ top leaders concluded that the House of Representatives’ dissolution was unconstitutional and decided to file a writ petition with the Supreme Court.
