Taliban call on international community to help earthquake victims

July 9, Kathmandu. The Taliban government in Afghanistan has called on the international community to help rescue and rescue earthquake victims.

Taliban leader Abdul Qahar Balkhi said the government was not financially capable of providing immediate relief to those affected by the quake. He called on donors and neighboring countries to help, and appealed for more help.

The death toll from Wednesday’s quake has risen to more than 1,000, with more than 1,500 injured.
