July 9, Biratnagar. The Sahaj Challenge Fund will provide grant for dairy production and marketing in Province 1. The fund will provide a grant of Rs 500,000 to Rs 5 million for a new scheme of different style than the traditional one.
The Sahaj Challenge Fund under the Swiss Government Development Assistance Program will provide a grant in the second phase by selecting new schemes for production and marketing of dairy products.
The Fund invites applications for participation in the grant process. Program Manager Subhechcha Shrestha informed that those who have the latest plan for production and marketing of dairy products can apply till July 20. She said that the best of the applications will be included in the program.
Sahaj Challenge Fund has been working in the field of promotion of dairy, cardamom, vegetable and maize crops.
In the second phase of the program, priority has been given to small and medium enterprises for milk production and packaging. The budget of the project is Rs. 20 million.
Chairman of Idea Nepal, Chiring Lama, said that production should be increased in the country with new thinking to replace the import of milk and dairy products worth billions of rupees annually.
Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Meghnath Timsina, said at a press conference that the state was leading in milk production.
