Multiple sources have confirmed that the suspect in the death of the young girl was arrested at a home located on the same block as Peters’ aunt’s home. It is also the place where the girl was spotted last time. Yes, on Sunday, Lily Peters was last seen in the area and since then she had gone missing. After searching for the girl in the area for quite some time, Peter’s father did not take a risk and informed the police about it.

The girl’s father reportedly called the police on Sunday around 9 PM and told them that Lily has left her aunt’s house but had not reached home. Taking Lily Peters’ well-being into consideration, the officials started their investigation. On Monday morning, the police found the 10-year-old’s dead body and a bicycle that was believed to be Lily’s in the woods near her aunt’s residence. With a heavy heart, the officials informed the family about their young daughter’s death.

The family got shattered after learning about their beloved daughter’s passing and could not believe the fact that they would never get to see her or hear from her from now on.  According to reports, memorials were built up outside of Parkview Elementary, where Peters went to school, and on a bridge near where her body was discovered, with balloons, teddy bears, and candles. Peters’ favorite color, according to her friends, was purple, hence the decor was predominantly purple.

“We’re a small town, and we’re all here for one another,” Jasmine Washburn said. “And if we can show our support, even if it’s just putting out some flowers for Lily, that would be great.” Therapists, therapy dogs, spiritual leaders, and counselors will be on hand for children and staff at Parkview Elementary, according to the school system. Currently, the officials are investigating the case further to find out more details.
