Youth arrested for demanding Rs 2 million ransom from family by pretending to be abducted

July 7, Kathmandu. Police have arrested a youth who pretended to be abducted and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 million from his own family.

The arrested is Krishna Kumar Sharma, 31, of Rajgandh-3 in Saptari and living in Imadol of Lalitpur.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Department, he was arrested from Biratnagar in collaboration with the District Police Office, Morang.

According to the department, he left the house on June 20 to send money to the family from IME and later pretended to be kidnapped to demand ransom money from the Afghan family. Police claim that he even sent dramatic video clips to the family for ransom.

According to the Upatyaka Crime Investigation Department, the arrested persons have been sent to Lalitpur District Police Office for further investigation and action.
