Bangladesh now heads forward for a 3-match ODI and 3-match T20I series in Harare, Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh watch from Nepal
Considering the current form and experience, Bangladesh will be favourites to win but this is also a great opportunity for the young guns in the Zimbabwe hut to display their calibre.
The hosts did put up a spirited fight during the Test match but weren’t able to match Bangladesh’s commendable performance.
The tourists will miss the services of their premier player, Mushfiqur Rahim, who has opted out for the remainder of the tour citing personal reasons.
Their ace bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, is also a doubtful starter after suffering an ankle injury during the warm-up match. Despite not having their services, the Bangla Tigers will be backing themselves to continue their winning run.
Recently, Bangladesh had beaten Sri Lanka in the ODI series and are currently sitting second in the ICC Men’s CWC Super League points table with 50 points.
They will look to solidify their position further by pocketing as many points as possible.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will be happy with the kind of form Brendan Taylor is in right now and will bank on him to provide a good platform.
Luke Jongwe had a good limited-overs series against Pakistan with the ball and would hope to continue the momentum. The hosts are currently at the bottom of the CWC Super League table with just 10 points and would try to put on a team effort as 30 points are up for grabs.
With Sean Williams and Craig Ervine still unavailable, Taylor will continue to lead them and the first ODI will be his 200th in the format.
They will be thrilled to welcome back Sikandar Raza who has returned to full fitness following a successful surgery in April to remove the tumour.
His experience will be critical in both departments of the game.
Their bowling once again is looking in better shape than batting and if the batters manage to step up to the plate, we can expect a cracking contest.
Bangladesh definitely holds the edge but Zimbabwe has shown in the past that they can spring in a surprise.
